What inspired you to attend Moravian?

I wanted to go to a school where I would feel connected to my classmates, professors, and campus life, and I knew at Moravian I would have more involvement opportunities than at a large school. Over my first year and a half, I have been able to hold three campus jobs, be President of Poetry Club, as well as the Secretary position, have a radio show for the university, and many other things, like honor societies, and a sorority. I have a strong community at Moravian, comprised of classmates with whom I am close as well as professors. I am thankful to Moravian for providing this.

What inspired you to pursue your major?

My father opened his own company in 2000, servicing the food industry. As a child, this inspired me to be my own boss one day; to take control of what my career will be. As I got older, I noticed the benefits of owning a company and working for yourself. This inspired me to also go into the food industry. I plan to utilize my marketing management degree to open a used bookstore and coffee shop. I have a passion for reading as well as going to small coffee shops and supporting small businesses, and I want to add to the community. In addition to the cafe, I want to write fantasy novels using my English writing arts background. I have always loved fantasy literature; it has been an influential part of my childhood and early adulthood. I have started writing a trilogy and hope to have the first book published by the time that I graduate.

What are your career goals and desired profession?

I want to be a business owner as well as a writer. If I can open a cafe that is a safe space for people, or allow my readers to escape into another realm, then that is when I will know I have successfully achieved my career goals.

Are you considering an advanced degree? If so, what are your plans?

Later in life, I would like to pursue a doctorate in creative writing. I understand that for an author writing fantasy, this is a non-essential degree; however, I love education and expanding my education, and want to learn all I can about writing and how the reader absorbs information.

How has your experience at Moravian contributed to your personal growth?

Before Moravian, I was an extremely shy student; I did not learn to succeed academically until my senior year in high school. When I came to Moravian, I was nervous about the work for my classes and making friends. After a few weeks here, I met the first group of people I could call my second family. They brought me out of my shell and turned me into a social "powerhouse."

My professors made an effort to show they care about their students and were always supportive of my efforts. After my first semester, I was a completely different person than I walked in; I was extroverted, I made the Dean's List, and formed connections with my professors. Moravian helped shape me into the person that I didn't allow myself to be in high school because of the fear of judgment. I can confidently say that if it were not for the people I met here and the opportunities provided through the university, I would not be the successful person that I am now.

If you met someone new and had to describe yourself in one sentence, what would you say about yourself?

I am socially motivated and goal-oriented.

What is one word to describe your Moravian experience?

Enriching.

What are your favorite student experiences at Moravian? Why?

In the spring of 2025, I did the sorority rush. I wanted to be more involved with the community as well as give myself networking opportunities for the future. On bid day, I was invited to join Alpha Sigma Alpha, my top sorority choice. When we went to "run home" after accepting our bids, the members were so excited to meet us and were so welcoming.

As I started to become more active in the sisterhood, I became closer to our small community as well as the larger community that is the entirety of Greek life. Through the organizations, I get to go to fun events like Powderpuff, Kicks for Special Olympics, and Polar Plunge, while still supporting non-profit organizations, which is something I am passionate about. The reason why I love Moravian Greek life so much is that it gave me a secondary family on campus that is always there to celebrate my achievements, sit and cry with me when I need someone, and make me laugh.

Thank You

Thank you for making coming to 鶹 a possibility for our student body. I am a first-generation college student, something that my parents are incredibly proud of, and without the resources provided by you and the university, I would not be where I am today.

I push myself academically to be the best that I can be in the classroom, as well as for my parents. Being granted scholarships through donations alleviates the stress my parents and I share about how we will pay for my schooling, as well as opens opportunities for my future to continue my education. I plan to one day earn my doctorate in creative writing, as I have a passion for learning.

Through your support, these possibilities are more attainable than they were before. I have deep gratitude for your contributions not only to me but also to my peers. Paying for college is undoubtedly one of the most stressful parts of being here; however, by donating to the school, you relieve us of these anxieties and give us more opportunities than ever imagined.
