DAT Student Ambassadors

Meet our 麻豆果冻 DAT Student Ambassadors! These individuals were nominated by their peers and selected by the DAT faculty. For current students the Ambassadors serve as the voice of the students to the faculty, communicating any concerns (or successes) of the students as a whole. For prospective students the Ambassadors are available to answer questions about the DAT program from a student perspective. Feel free to reach out to any of these individuals with questions you may have about the DAT program!

Superman Berrow

Anticipated Graduation August 2026

berrows@moravian.edu

My name is Superman Berrow and I run my own clinic, B4 Club Therapy Human Performance and Wellness Center (Altoona, PA), which serves a wide variety of clients looking to keep active and mobile regardless of what stage of life they are in. In addition to running the clinic I provide industrial athletic training services to several companies in the area as well as overseeing athletic training services to a local high school. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology in 2006 from the University of Kentucky and Master of Science in Athletic Training in 2008 from Shenandoah University. I started the Doctor of Athletic Training at 麻豆果冻 in the Summer of 2024 because I wanted to become a better clinician and gain more information that I could use with my wide client base. I chose Moravian鈥檚 DAT program because it allows me to broaden my knowledge base while still working within the profession, as well as giving me an opportunity to pursue my MBA as well. During my first year I have already formed great relationships with both classmates and professors. Everyone within this program is supportive and only wants one another to succeed. As a student ambassador I look forward to talking with you and if you have any questions or concerns regarding anything I am more than happy to assist in any way I can.

MacKenzie Heck

Anticipated Graduation December 2026

heckm@moravian.edu

My name is MacKenzie Heck and I currently work as a government contractor for the US Army as an Athletic Trainer for a Basic Combat Training Unit. Working in the military setting has challenged me as a clinician and required me to advocate for our profession. It has also given me the drive to further my education to continue refining my clinical skills and growing as an advocate for our profession within the military setting.

I graduated from the University of South Carolina in 2019 and decided to enter the profession at an NAIA school. 9 months into my first year as a professional, COVID-19 put a stop to athletics and the world but gave me time to think if Athletic Training was really what I wanted to do. After a 2-month hiatus, I re-entered the AT workforce at a high school through a hospital outreach program, and my passion for this profession was reignited. After 4 years in the secondary school setting, I wasn鈥檛 looking to leave but was curious of what else was out there. Landing in the military setting showed me why I became an Athletic Trainer.

I had some colleagues who completed the DAT at 麻豆果冻 and they spoke highly of the program. Once I decided that going back to school specifically for Athletic Training was what I wanted to do, Moravian was my first choice. I really appreciated their focus on perfecting our clinical skills, encouraging critical thinking, offering classes taught by people who are passionate about the content, and supporting us as working professionals. I am so pleased with the program so far as I truly feel like this program is making me a better clinician and professional.

Ally Kriefski

Anticipated Graduation May 2028

kriefskia@moravian.edu

My name is Ally Kriefski, and I am an Assistant Athletic Trainer for the University of Illinois Fighting Illini Football Team. Prior to joining the Fighting Illini, I served as a seasonal athletic trainer for the Green Bay Packers during the 2022 and 2023 seasons, where I gained valuable experience in professional football and developed a passion for working in elite performance environments.

I earned my Bachelor of Science in Exercise Sport Science (2020) and Master of Science in Athletic Training (2022) from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. I began the Doctor of Athletic Training (DAT) program at 麻豆果冻 in the Summer of 2025.

I chose to pursue my DAT to continue pushing the boundaries of sports medicine. Moravian鈥檚 program stood out for its exceptional faculty and forward-thinking curriculum focused on advancing clinical practice. Its flexible structure has allowed me to continue working in Division I college football while growing as a doctoral-level clinician and contributing to the profession's future.

Mikey Stant

Anticipated Graduation May 2029

stantm@moravian.edu

My name is Mikey Stant, and I am originally from Dover, Delaware. I obtained my BS in Athletic Training with a minor in Strength and Conditioning from the University of Delaware in 2016. I then attended Sacred Heart University as a Graduate Assistant, working with the football and women's lacrosse teams while obtaining my MS in Exercise Science and Nutrition from 2016鈥2018.

I returned to the University of Delaware from 2018鈥2023, where I worked primarily with the baseball and women鈥檚 rowing teams. I also served as the rehab coordinator, working with Olympic-sport post-surgical athletes and developing rehab protocols for various surgical cases. In July 2023, I moved on from the college setting to work in the industrial setting at a Frito-Lay factory, primarily with the traffic division and truck drivers. Since March 2024, I have worked at a public high school in Baltimore, where I am the first-ever Athletic Trainer employed by the school!

As I have progressed through my career, my interests have evolved; currently, the topics in Athletic Training that interest me most are the roles of ATs in health economics, health informatics, and entrepreneurship. I am an avid runner currently working to assist more runners with their injuries, and I also co-host "The GFY Podcast," where we discuss wellness topics to help people "go fix themselves."

I started the DAT program in January 2026. I felt a strong passion to demonstrate what Athletic Trainers can do and the impact they can have on a broader scale within the healthcare system. When I was evaluating many different programs, I felt that Moravian鈥檚 DAT program was the most 鈥渂alanced.鈥 The coursework and faculty have such varying backgrounds that you can always find someone to push you in the direction of your specific interests. So far in the program, I have enjoyed working with other driven Athletic Trainers who are not only passionate about the profession but also about improving clinical outcomes and striving to provide quality healthcare within their own settings and communities.

In my free time, I enjoy hanging out with my wife Courtney, my son Callum, and my dog Widget. We often spend time together getting coffee and going for walks. Personally, I work out and train to run in about two marathons a year.

Hollis Theard

Anticipated Graduation December 2026

theardh@moravian.edu

Hi, my name is Hollis Theard, and I am currently a secondary school outreach athletic trainer with Atrium Health based out of Charlotte, NC. I received my bachelor鈥檚 degree in athletic training from Elon University in 2010 before spending five years working at a small, private high school in Statesboro, GA, first as a graduate assistant through Georgia Southern University, then full-time through a local orthopedic group. My current position is as the sole athletic trainer at Gray Stone Day School, a charter school in Misenheimer, NC serving both middle and high school athletes.

I started the DAT program at 麻豆果冻 in the spring of 2025 and am already so glad that I made the decision to continue my academic journey through Moravian. While I still enjoy working in the secondary school setting, I felt like the time was right to further my education, learn new concepts, and sharpen my clinical skills as I consider where athletic training may take me next. I specifically chose Moravian because of the broad nature of the curriculum, the impressive faculty, and the opportunity to pursue the dual DAT-MBA degree option.

Despite being in the program for a short time, I鈥檝e already found the faculty to be extremely supportive and easy to work with, and I鈥檝e enjoyed interacting with my fellow classmates. I鈥檓 looking forward to continuing this journey and seeing how it will help me advance my career!

Jordan Wissinger

Anticipated Graduation August 2026

wissingerj@moravian.edu

Hello, my name is Jordan Wissinger, an Athletic Trainer at a private Catholic High School setting in Southeastern Pennsylvania. I graduated with my Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training in 2019 from Alvernia University, and with my Masters in Sports Science and Rehabilitation program in 2020 from Logan University. Since then, I have worked in a multitude of settings ranging from collegiate, high school, and industrial. Through these experiences, I came to appreciate the diversity this profession has to offer while recognizing the desire to work in the traditional sports setting, thus holding the position I am in now.

The pursuit of personal excellence and my competitive nature has always pushed me to work towards the best of my abilities, education being one of these areas. For years, I have considered pursuing a Doctorate in Athletic Training or a related field. One of my career goals is to move into becoming a Professor at a University in their MSAT program. The competitive nature I possess, the desire for personal excellence in my clinical field, and the desire to teach finally brought me to formally pursue the DAT program in early 2024. 麻豆果冻 made the most sense. It is a clinical degree where I can develop an advanced skillset, learn about and potentially publish my own research, and learn to be a leader and educator in this profession. I started at Moravian in 2024 and am projected to Graduate at the end of Summer 2026.

This program offers a core set of courses with other electives that you can choose from that suit your interests and ambitions, allowing you to tailor your own education to what interests you the most. Additionally, three courses per semester allow for a manageable amount of workload for a full-time professional. As with everything in life that warrants effort, it comes with its challenges, and all of them are manageable. As an Ambassador for the program, I am happy to assist you with the challenges, questions, or concerns you may have at any time. Please feel free to reach out if you ever need to, and I am happy to help.

DAT Alumni Ambassador

Kristin Funk Maguire

kfunkmaguire@gmail.com

Maguire

My name is Dr. Kristin Funk Maguire and I received both a BS in Athletic Training (2003), MS in Exercise Science (2005) from East Stroudsburg University, and graduated from Moravian鈥檚 DAT program in 2021. My career started out in the high school setting at East Stroudsburg South High School and Pennridge High School respectively. I transitioned into the collegiate setting when I moved out to central Pennsylvania in 2010. I was the Geisinger outsourced athletic trainer to Bucknell University. There, I worked with football, men's and women's cross country, track and field and my last year with baseball. After Bucknell, I was an assistant athletic trainer at Bloomsburg University. While at Bloomsburg my main sport coverage was field hockey, women's soccer, men's and women's cross country, track and field, wrestling (DI) and baseball.

In May 2018, I stepped down to be a full-time mom. I continue to keep up my clinical practice through an internship with the Geisinger Musculoskeletal Institute (MSK). I have established a weekly manual therapy clinic where I assist area high schools with their patients, specializing in low back and manual therapy. I have also recently accepted a position back at Bloomsbury University.

I am originally from beautiful Bucks County Pennsylvania, specifically New Hope. I currently reside in Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania with my husband Kevin and our two kids Kai and Kinsley.

I started Moravian鈥檚 Doctor of Athletic Training program in the Spring of 2018. As seasons changed in both my personal and professional life, I wanted to take advantage of my time away as a full-time athletic trainer to bridge knowledge gaps within my own clinical practice and to gain new knowledge in areas that I was not well versed in. Thus, creating my journey toward to an advanced degree in the field of athletic training.

I chose Moravian鈥檚 DAT program as it had checked off all the boxes I wanted in an advanced degree. The online format and ability to go part-time as needed paired nicely with the ever-changing environment of being a stay-at-home mom.  The weeklong summer in-person session allowed me the opportunity to interact with classmates and faculty and build lasting relationships both personally and professionally.  The diverse faculty teaching in the DAT program, who are experts in their particular course, not only enhanced my knowledge in those areas, but enabled me to expand my professional network. Lastly, Moravian鈥檚 DAT is student-driven allowing each student to individualize course load according to areas of interest, knowledge gaps and career goals. For me that was enhancing my ability, as a clinician, to critically think and assess patients in best practices and patient outcomes. In addition, this program has expanded my aptitude in the areas of leadership, health care administration and emerging practices within the field of athletic training.
